Summary of Duties:

The Hawaii Sales Manager oversees all aspects of sales, team management, and sales training for the Hawaii Market. They are responsible for meeting the sales objectives agreed upon with the company’s wineries and Leadership Team.  The Hawaii Sales Manager reports directly to the President, manages Hawaii Sales Representatives, and works closely with CA Sales Directors, Portfolio Management, and Hawaii Operations Manager.

Manager assigned Hawaii territories and Sales Representatives; strategize/coordinate with the Portfolio Management team and the Hawaii Operations Manager to ensure the company’s overall Hawaii sales objectives are met.

 

Responsibilities

Major Duties:

Sales and Territory Management:

  • Spend several days a week in the market making presentations, mentoring representatives and building relationships with customers.
  • Supervise assigned sales representatives, monitor progress, and work to achieve individual and regional territory sales and distribution goals, and maximize performance.
  • Assist and support sales representatives in identifying new prospects & expanding existing relationships.
  • Provide sales training, organize Portfolio Manager trainings, and monitor sales activities for each sales representative.
  • Organize and schedule regular sales planning and evaluation meetings with each individual representative.
  • Create annual reviews of the region’s sales representatives.
  • Analyze regional sales activity reports including weekly and monthly Sales Representative sales goal reports, samples usage, returns/refusals, and distribution/placement goals or initiatives.
  • Develop and implement overall sales strategy for Hawaii by market segment, with a focus on case targets and fulfilling winery expectations.

Collaboration and Strategy Development:

  • Strategize with the suppliers and California sales management to overcome brand challenges and succeed in reaching objectives.
  • Collaborate with and operate as one collective whole with California Regions to achieve Company-wide targets and commitments.
  • Work with Portfolio Managers to implement pricing, promotional programs, and required fieldwork to increase product visibility in the marketplace and market penetration.
  • Provide recommendations to suppliers and Portfolio Managers for improving or adding new marketing material or product support necessary to achieve supplier sales goals.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers in annual targets and incentive programs for the sales staff.
  • Maintain a high degree of communication with Portfolio Managers, adapting strategy based on market changes and year-to-date sales; strategize to overcome challenges and succeed in reaching objectives.
  • Participate in the establishment and review of annual budgets for Hawaii.
  • Lead by example and ensure spending adheres to the company’s policies and legal parameters.
  • Coordinate with the Hawaii Operations Manager and the Leadership Team to schedule and lead General Sales Meetings to give an overview of company performance, offer global sales training, and provide a platform for the Portfolio Managers and suppliers to educate the team.

 

Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of fine wine sales experience with a demonstrated record of performance and regional sales force management experience 
  • Proven sales ability and key account contacts within the region 
  • Experience in selling wines from the “Old World”, CA, OR, WA, Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to direct and motivate sales staff 
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal skills 
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills 
  • Reside on Oahu
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing 
  • Ability to lift and move 40 lbs
