Paetra's Pinot Gris grows in a forest clearing within Yamhill-Carlton on beds of limestone, tuffa, and sandstone. The forest atmosphere provides naturally now temperatures and permits peak ripeness while still controlling the alcohol levels. The grapes were manually harvested before fermenting with native yeasts in neutral oak barrels. The wine has zero chemical yeast additions, acid, or enzyme additives and the wine is left sur lie before bottling.
Aromatically the wine is bright and yellow fruit driven, with pineapple, under ripe mango, and lemon zest. On the palate there is a touch of honey suckle as well as acidic tropical fruits and a surprisingly full mid-palate from the time it was left sur lie.
