This Scarone is 100% Barbera, in which the grapes comes from the single vineyard named as such located in Castiglione Falletto with clay-limestone rich soils. Upon arrival, the grapes first go through a cold maceration in steel tanks before alcoholic fermentation, which lasts just around two weeks. After the wine macerates for another week, it is then racked and moved to oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for eighteen months between large Slovenian oak barrels, barriques, and steel tanks.
Aromatically this wine is fruit-forward with a combination of ripe red and black cherries that leaps from the glass. On the palate, the wine has a profile of blackberries, licorice, and dried spices with refreshing acidity and rich tannins, which provide a long, lingering finish.
