The DuPratt vineyard was planted back in 1916 and continued to produce Zinfandel on its very own rootstock. The vineyard itself, tucked away in Mendocino has yet to have been exposed to phylloxera, and sits at an elevation of 1,600ft just above the fog line five miles from the Pacific Ocean. With it's southwestern facing orientation in the Mendocino Ridge AVA, as well as it's cool climate the wines that hail from this site prove to be extremely complex and ageable. The wine is aged in 100% French oak, of which 17% is new. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Aromatically the wine is juicy and bright with perfumes of pomegranate seeds, cranberry sauce, and something inherently woodsy. On the palate, the wine has red fruit notes of red currants, cranberries, and a sprinkling of baking spice.
