This bottle of 100% Chardonnay is made from certified organic grapes from vineyards that are farmed according to biodynamic methods of viticulture (Demeter certification). The fruit hails from the best, selected parcels owned by the Löwengang Estate, situated in Magrè at different altitudes between 230-330 m above sea level (750 - 1080 feet). Soils are sandy and gravelly with a high content of limestone, and there is a warm mesoclimate with large temperature variations between day and night. The grapes are gently pressed with a spontaneous fermentation in barriques (French oak, mostly from Tronçais and Vosges, depending on the vintage up to 1/3 in new wood) followed by maturation on the lees in barriques for 11 months.
Aromatically this wine is zippy with perfumed notes of lemon zest and and just ripened stone fruits. On the palate the wine is full of fresh apricots, smooth butter, and a lingering, salty minerality.
