Woodward Canyon Winery
This 2005 Columbia Valley Merlot is produced from grapes grown at several of the finest vineyards in Washington State. These include Woodward Canyon Estate Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley (81%) and Klipsun Vineyard in the Red Mountain Appellation (19%).
The 2005 vintage was the warmest vintage on record, surpassing even the very warm 2003 vintage. The Merlot ripened beautifully, producing a wine of lovely concentration, structure, and expression. The wine shows extraordinary complexity, definition and focus. The ability to blend with such fantastic vineyards has produced a flavor profile of dried cherry, subtle oak, and coffee. Firm, mature tannins give this wine its backbone and it will require some patience. While it may be consumed now, it will show better with at least a year or so of bottle age. |
