"The estate’s 2004 Barolo Vigneto Rocche bursts from the glass with a richly-textured expression of ripe red cherries, menthol and tar. There is superb balance in all the wine’s elements; the French oak is used masterfully, and the wine’s structural components meld seamlessly with the fruit and aromatics. The wine shows outstanding persistence, not to mention uncommon grace on the finish. This rich, concentrated Barolo needs a few years to settle down, but it is undoubtedly a stunning effort."

"Lots of ripe plum and strawberry aromas, with fresh mushroom and a hint of new wood. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a long, chewy finish. A bit tight now, but structured and pretty. Best after 2011."

Andrea Oberto
The Rocche vineyard in La Morra was planted in 1973. The vineyard is southeast facing with sandy soil. The grapes are picked
when they are fully ripe and then put into small crates. After destemming and crushing, around 10% must be drained off. After
a 10 day maceration and fermentation, the new wine is transferred into wood, where the spontaneous malolactic fermentation
takes place. The wine is matured in wood for 26 months - 60% oak barrels, 50% of which are new. 40% of those new barrels
are Tonneaux. The wine then spends 6 months in stainless steel, Followed by 6 months in bottle. A flowery bouquet. Powerful and
rich in the mouth and a very persistent aftertaste. Perfect with pheasant or white truffles.
