Maximin Grünhaus, 2010 Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett

"Very pure-tasting, with an intense raciness to the peach, apple and green pear flavors. The creamy finish is long and fruity. Drink now through 2025."

"This is more fruit-driven than the Abtsberg at the moment, showing supple, harmonious notes of apricot and white peach. It's fragrant and clean, with an elegantly balanced structure."

2010 Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Kabinett
Maximin Grunhaus
The delicate Kabinett style from the special terroir of Herrenberg.
Herrenberg:
Wines from this vineyard were made specially for the Abbey’s Choirmasters. Extending over 19 hectares, the site benefits from deep soils with good water retention, over a base of red Devonian slate. Wines from the Herrenberg show fruit and body early in their lives, but also possess extraordinary ageing potential.
Herrenberg is the generally
considered to be the second
best site at Grünhaus, after
Abtsberg. It is based more
on red slate and has deeper
topsoil that retains more
water, which can be of great
benefit in dry years. The
wines of Herren berg are
more generous and tend to
open up sooner than those of
Abtsberg, but are capable of
equal longevity. This wine is a selection of barrels that exhibit
the delicate Kabinett style, but also show the distinctive stone
fruit flavors and red slate minerality that are typical expressions
of this vineyard’s terroir. |
