A recent planting of the St. Peter's Church selection, these young vines (planted in 2002) provided a super-ripe, peppery zin in 2007. The scent edges toward prunes, but the fruit retains some freshness. Serve it at the end of the meal with cheese."

"Elements of blackberries, vanilla, brown sugar and briar come together in the rich and outgoing aromas of this one, and, if very ripe, the wine is never excessively so. Its concentrated flavors run true to its nose, and berrylike fruit is set against accents of cocoa and cream. Its soft underbelly and its evident heat cost it a chance for a second star, but it is a tasty and wholly enjoyable Zin that will do yeoman service with slowly cooked ribs that are slathered in tangy barbecue sauce."
