"On another level and a beautiful Chardonnay that does everything right, the 2015 Chardonnay Mt Harlan comes from limestone soils and spent 14 months in 30% new French oak. It has an incredible salinity as well as notes of citrus, tart apples, orange blossom and toasted bread. Clean, crisp and laser focused on the palate, yet with fruit and depth, it’s a dead ringer for a Grand Cru White Burgundy. It will be even better in another 6-12 months, and keep through 2025."

"Although the challenging vintage resulted in just a half-ton per acre of Chardonnay in this dry appellation (a third of its normal yield), this wine is fantastic. Flinty and smoky aromas lead to Gala apple, white peach and lemon peel on the nose, while the palate combines salt, grapefruit pith and seared apple flavors. A sharp line of acidity brings it all into balance. —M.K."

VINEYARD: Calera’s Mt. Harlan Vineyards are located in the Gavilan Mountains 25 miles east of the Monterey Bay. The site was chosen for its unique limestone soils and ideal climate. At an average elevation of 2,200 feet, it is among the highest and coolest vineyard sites in California.

FERMENTATION: Fruit spends 10 months in French oak (30% new) and completes 100% malolactic fermentation.

All of Calera's Mt Harlan vineyards are farmed Certified Organic.
