100% Pinot Noir
VINEYARD Grapes come from Krafuss Estate Vineyard in the village of Appiano/Montagna at an altitude of 430 m to 450 m (1410 ft to 1480 ft) facing southeast. The soils are loamy, gravelly with calcareous glacial deposit, and the region has a cool mesoclimate. The vineyard was planted in 1991 with selected Pinot Noir clones at high density in a wire-trellis system.
VINIFICATION Grapes are gently pressed followed by spontaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maturation lasts 18 months in small French oak barrels (Allier, Nevers, Vosges) of 225 L, 300 L and 500 L (1/3 new depending on the vintage).
